Hairwatch 2006: Gerard Way Rears His Platinum Blond Head at Comic-Con
On Saturday, July 22nd, My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way was out and about in San Diego, California pressing the flesh and pimping out his new comic book for Dark Horse during Comic-Con.
His new book is called Umbrella Academy and features the story of seven misfits and their “plight to protect the planet.” Guess it’s kinda like X-men meets… uh… Captain Planet? Available in 2007 and co-creator is Gabriel Ba. (Thanks to Gillian for the head’s up.)
Oh, and it’s not like Gerard just woke up one day and decided to get into the comic book biz. He’s been illustrating for a long time, and even went to SVA in the hopes of becoming a comic book artist. He drew the artwork for Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, you know. I love that he’s such a geek.

Actually, in an interview, Gerard says that the next album will have to do with facing fears of illness and sickness and dying, and he colored his hair that way to imitate someone who has undergone cancer treatments and has lost their hair.
A very gutsy and bold move in my opinion. Bravo Gerard, way to go the extra mile.

Everyone should be grateful for everything that he has done for MCR’s fans so leave him the hell alone I know what it feels like to have people pick on you, and to have people make you think that ur not worth a damn so get off of his back. Gerard and the rest of MCR do everything for their fans. So leave Gerard alone and go on with your pathetic little lives. and stop crying over Gerard’s hair he dyed it to promote cancer awareness. He did it so it would fit in more with the album. So screw you guys. He is still absolutely gorgeous. He is a good person on the inside and that is what matters. P.S. MCR if you are reading this, especially Gerard, don’t listen to what these people are saying you guys are an awesome band. And gerard you are an awesome person no matter what anyone says.No matter what color your hair is you will always be a role model for me and a lot of other people.
