So More Scene
So more scene than you'll ever be.

My Chemical Romance Rings the New Year in at Times Square

To continue the totally emo NYE, this note from the My Chemical Romance mailing list:

My Chemical Romance will be ringing in the new year in New York at a free special performance of three songs from The Black Parade. They will be performing in Times Square at 11:15pm tonight, New Year’s Eve, so make sure to get there early to get a good spot.

If you can’t make it, you can catch one song from the show live on MTV at 11:45pm that night. And then you can catch them from that performance on Tuesday, January 2nd, on Jimmy Kimmel, which airs on ABC.

Kinda Like “Sophie’s Choice”, and Just as Emo…and Partying with Pete on NYE

You know that pivotal scene in the movie Sophie’s Choice where Meryl Streep’s character (Sophie, obvs) has to decide which of her children she is going to save? She’s looking around all scared, terrified, and confused–her heart simply breaking at the prospect of sacrificing one child for the other?

That’s kinda how I feel about the Fall Out Boy vs Panic! at the Disco New Years Eve dilemma we’ve all be posed with this year. FOB will be on MTV’s “Stay Gold” show in their Times Square Studios and Panic! will be on Carson “Old Face” Daly’s NBC extravaganza. I can just see myself, remote in hand, flipping between the channels with a mild amount of fear in my heart, hoping I don’t miss either one.

Anyhoo, those staying in NYC will find this little post quite interesting… Numer One Socialite Tinsley Mortimer will host a NYE party at chic Manhattan restaurant Japonais with “special guests” Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco. For a mere 175-350 dollars, you too can ring in 2007 by watching Pete Wentz talk to someone else (not you) on his Sidekick. Sounds like fuuuuuuunnnn. Check out the “Killer” animated invitation. And buy tickets right here.

Also get your “untz-untz” on with Petey during his DJ set at Webster Hall on Saturday at Webster Hall. (Link from the FOB Boards)

I’m suddenly so relieved I’m leaving town this weekend. I dunno about you, but I don’t want to ring in 2007 by stalking Pete Wentz.

Taking Back Sunday’s “12 Days of Christmas”

Can’t type that much because I’ve got a Carpal Tunnel flare up, but just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and point you to this Taking Back Sunday version of the “12 Days of Christmas” animated by Robert Smigel. Thanks for the link, e.:

This Ain’t a Scene…It’s a G-ddamn Fall Out Boy Video

The new video for FOB’s single, “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race”. Picks up right where “Dance, Dance” left off…literally. Also nods to a number of their past videos, a cameo by Travis from Gym Class Heroes and…er…Hemingway, and a fictionalized reenactment of Pete’s famous Peengate photos…which made my skin crawl just a tad.

However, I do love this song. (And Wentz <3 Oh No They Didn't.)

The boys will be playing MTV’s New Year’s party in the Times Square studio. It’s sure to be HAWT up in there. Probably just as hot as when FOB and All-American Rejects had a battle of the bands:

My Chem’s Video for “Famous Last Words”: Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire!

Finally! We get to see the video that nearly cost Bob a leg. It gets totally intense in the last few moments of the video where you can see Bob mouthing “I can’t take this any more!” and he runs away from his drumkit, pulling up his pantleg to check to see if his skin has totally melted off. Gerard Way looks creepy sexy. Woah! My Chemical Romance take it to the next level.:

Fall Out Boy: “Infinity on High” Cover Art and Press Photo = Reprezenting Gay Sheep and Color-coordinating with Celestial Backgrounds

Hit or miss? My personal take: Hit. From Under the Cork Tree cover < Infinity on High cover. Flying sheep finally out of the closet = awesome. Is this a supportive stand for gay sheep everywhere?…discuss.

Speaking of gay sheep…what about the official press photo? (I kid, I kid.) Why does the moon have to be right by Patrick Stump’s head? And notice how Pete’s shirt matches the background color a little too perfectly? Mmmhmmm… but you gotta love the sultry little emo pout and give props to Trohman’s total “yeah, wuzzup sukkas?” face peeping out the back.

SingShot Commercials with Dudes Singing “Dance, Dance”

I saw the SingShot commercial the other day–the ones with the two dudes singing “Dance, Dance” in a subway station and I almost lost my shizz because it was so retarded/ stupid/ wonderful. Have you seen it? It’s pretty hilarious to see these MTV-VJ looking guys jumping around like a bunch of girls in their bedroom singing in front of the mirror. I still have no idea what SingShot is.

Happy Birthday, Jesse

May every day be a birthday turd cake day!

Oh and in totally unrealted news, a pretty cool photoshoot that Panic! at the Disco did where they were given a shutter release cord for the camera and allowed to take their own photos for a German magazine pictorial.

Hairwatch 2006: Benji Madden All Bald and Crap, Joel Goes BSB

You know how it goes…when Pop Punk Princes cut, dye, or style, I must report. The latest dispatch in Hairwatch 2006 (quite possible the last one for this year), Good Charlotte are back (?)…with new haircuts. Benji is sporting the newborn baby look–that’s right–bald-o head-o, and Joel has this weird sorta Teen Beat-ready look. Totally Back Street Boys circa 1999.

Right now they are promoting their new album, Good Morning Revival, which drops in March of 2007. Check out the video I grabbed the screen caps from:
